Welcome
The African American Community Roundtable (AACR) is an active coalition of social, civic, professional, religious, and cultural groups committed to enhancing the overall quality of life for African-Americans throughout Howard County. Through civic engagement and community service, the AACR focuses on raising awareness around Education, Health, Economic Development, Public Safety and Social Justice; providing resources, and empowering residents as we work toward reducing inequalities among African-Americans.
Education
The AACR promotes educational excellence, access, and opportunity for African American students and families throughout Howard County.
Through community partnerships, advocacy, mentoring, and access to educational resources, we work to help students succeed, support families, and encourage lifelong learning.
Health
The AACR promotes healthier living and improved health outcomes for African Americans throughout Howard County through education, advocacy, prevention, and access to community resources. In partnership with member organizations and local health leaders, we address health disparities and encourage preventive care, healthy lifestyles, disease awareness and management, and greater access to healthcare resources.
Economic Development
The AACR supports economic empowerment by connecting African American residents, entrepreneurs, and businesses with resources, information, and opportunities for growth.
We advocate for greater access to entrepreneurship, employment, financial education, and wealth-building opportunities that help strengthen families and our community.
Social Justice
The AACR advocates for equity, fairness, inclusion, and meaningful civic participation throughout Howard County. We work with residents, organizations, and community leaders to raise awareness of issues affecting African Americans, address disparities, encourage civic engagement, and help ensure that our community has a strong and informed voice.
Public Safety
AACR works to promote safe, informed, and connected communities through education, advocacy, and constructive engagement with residents, community organizations, public safety agencies, and local leaders.
We encourage open dialogue, community awareness, accountability, and partnerships that strengthen trust and improve the quality of life throughout Howard County.
